New Scientific findings about Santorini volcanic erruption (ca. 1613 B.C.)
Scientific publication of Geology Magazine gives a new perspective to the Santorini volcanic erruption study. According to the article, the tsunami waves created by the volcanic erruption of Santorini (ca. 1613 B.C.) reached the Israel coasts and possibly caused the disaster of the civilizations of the area.
The conclusion comes by marine geoarchaeologist Beverly Goodman and her group, during their research of how two later Roman and Byzantine tsunami deposits could be characterized by studying the different grain sizes at Caesarea Maritima in Israel.
