Escaping from Fira and having direction to Oia we are passing Kontohori. The two villages (Kontochori and Fira) have joined as one gradually over the past century, so far the limits are blurred and nowadays it seems by many as a part of Fira. Because of its distance from caldera Kontohori is much quieter. There are many churches in Kontohori: Prophet Elias, who build in the 18 st century by the Order of the Catholic and Orthodox Christian later renamed to church, St. Eleftherios, St. Eustatius , the Holy Virgin of Lagkadiou and Agios Konstantinos, where the Folklore Museum is located.
